1 What it covers
Basic Training – Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (STCW V/1-1) evidences basic training for safe handling of oil and chemical tanker cargoes. It is needed by crew assigned specific duties concerning cargo or cargo equipment on oil and chemical tankers. Validity: as issued; competence shown every 5 years.1–4
2 What it consists of
The standard of competence is set by table A-V/1-1-1 of the Code.1,2
3 Validity and renewal
Document validity. The expiry date, if the issuing system sets one, is shown on the document itself. This reference does not calculate personal expiry dates.
Maintaining competence. Masters and officers continuing to serve on tankers show continued competence for this training at intervals not exceeding 5 years. There is no single international interval for ratings.3,4
